The Five Senses
by John Exell
I have seen mist rising from Scottish moorland,
I have seen Mount Vesuvious erupting,
I have seen stars falling from the sky,
But I have not seen you, my love, for ages.
I have heard the sound of silence booming in Leicester Square,
I have heard the sound of a curlew at full moon,
I have heard Angels speaking to me in hushed whispers,
But I have not heard you, my love, for ages.
I have touched Seventh Heaven,
I have touched rainbows in the night,
I have touched the top of a giant redwood tree,
But I have not touched you, my love, for ages.
I have smelt the sweet smell of success,
I have smelt rain falling through Amazonian Forests,
I have smelt rose petals in the snow,
But I have not smelt you, my love, for ages.
I have tasted honey dripping from the moon,
I have tasted the bitter sweet of life,
I have tasted strawberries and cream from Venus,
But I have not tasted you, my love, for ages.
