CAN YOU HEAR HIM?

by Paul Carson

HAVE YOU EVER WOKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT COMPLETELY ALONE?

NO ONE TO TELEPHONE, NO WHERE TO GO, NOTHING TO DO, EVERYONE YOU

KNOW IS IN THE WORLD OF SLEEP. YOU ARE CUT OFF IN A CROWDED WORLD

OF SLEEPERS.

I THINK OF PHONING MY FRIENDS OR RELATIVES, BUT I,D RATHER NOT DISTURB

ESPECIALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITH SOME PETTY TALK. I THINK OF

GOING TO THE GARAGE FOR SOME FAGS OR BOOZE, BUT THIS COUNTRY IS SO

FAR BEHIND THE TIMES, EVERYWHERE IS SHUT. I COULD SCREEM AND WAKE

EVERYBODY UP, BUT THAT MAY HAVE CONSEQUENCES.

IT IS STILL, NO BIRDS, NO VOICES, NO SLAMMING DOORS NO SCREEMING KIDS, NO SIRENS.

SO, WHO IS WITH ME?........HIS DOOR IS NEVER LOCKED, HE NEVER SLEEPS, HE HAS

NO ANSWERPHONE, HE LOVES CONVERSATION ANYTIME DAY OR NIGHT. HE IS ALWAYS THERE

WAITING.

I SAY A FEW WORDS TO HIMI LOVE YOU ".

HE REPLIES IN THE DEADLY SILENCE, I AM HERE, AND I LOVE YOU TOO ".
